59. Apathetic Advertising

Lazy Advertising

This is an example of lazy advertising. This beer ad is targeted towards men. It uses an attractive woman to get the men's attention. Is ad implies that of you drink this beer you will meet and get a girl like the woman featured in this ad. Also, the women's breasts are placed directly next to the glass of beer, directing the eye contact there.

58. Powerful Poetry?

The mind and heart creativity guest speakers were definitely an interesting way to start my day. They woke me up with their out of the box creative techniques. However, I found myself actually feeling rather uncomfortable with their lecture. I think it is because the lecture reminded me of one of those intense Christian religious preachings where people become so emotional and hold their hands up to heaven.

Also, I felt like what they were saying was more of a performance, than about the meaning of what they're saying. However, that could be due to me not understanding a word of what they were saying in the speeches. Pretty much all I gather was something about moms and their culture being felt behind.

57. Sanctimonious Shoes

Shoes are my heart & sole ;)
They can add a pop of color to your outfit, a pop of sass, a pop of sex appeal, a pop of athleticism, etc. It's all up to you and what you are going for with your outfit of choice.

56. Jaunty Jewels

I am a firm believer that jewelry can make or break an outfit. It can dress an outfit up, just as easily as it can dress an outfit down. There are those fabulous statement or designer pieces that catch everybody's eyes. There are also the subtle, little pieces that add a gentle and sweet factor to your look.

55. Phanny Packs

Thank God for fanny packs. They are the most underrated best invention ever.

I'm not really sure how fanny packs came to have such a negative connotation, other then the association of fanny packs with the horrific style decade of the eighties, but I won't let that stop me from professing my love for them.

Why I love fanny packs is if I go to Disneyland, a concert, or somewhere similar, a fanny pack is a godsend. You don't need to worry about dropping it, a strap falling off your shoulder, it being to heavy so it hurts your back, or someone grabbing it and running off. You can even conceal fanny packs from others to prevent pickpocketing. You can add character or a certain flair to your outfit. You can carry a surprising amount in a fanny pack. The best part, however, it that fanny packs come in all different colors, patters, sizes, basically however you want. So why all the hate?

52. Peaceful Portraits

In my photography class, I had to take head shots, mid shots, and full body shots. My friend Megan graciously agreed to help me. I took pictures of her for about two hours. The portraits were supposed to have a non-threatening background, use of their hands, and be taken in shade to prevent major shadows.

51. Sassy Selfie

In my photography class, we had to take selfies of ourselves for our portrait assignment, good thing society today is so self centered and all about taking selfies.

In this picture I am in the shade at the pool at The Parker hotel in Palm Springs. I am wearing Wildfox sunnies and a Seafolly halter bikini top.

50. Gatsby Glam

I went to dinner in Uptown this past weekend and I felt like I hadn't gotten dressed up in a while. I am currently loving the trend of mixing materials and textures so I threw this outfit together in hopes of making a statement and catching people's eye (in a good way).

H&M top
Club Monaco black feather vest
Black Madewell jeans
Black Jeffery Campbell heeled booties with sculptural V-cut sides

49. Swanky Stay

For Spring Break I flew back to California and drove from Newport Beach to Palm Springs. I stayed at The Parker, the most fabulous and trendy hotel, known for their many celebrity quests. Previously, I have seen both Miley Cyrus and Cameron Diaz at The Parker. This time while I there, Cece from New Girl was having a photo shoot out at the pool.

I spent most of my time at the pool sipping on sweet lemonade from their signature lemonade stand, dreaming of summertime, and of course tanning at the pool. Meanwhile I attempted to fit the stylist vibe of the hotel with my pink cat-eye QUAY sunglasses.

48. Intriguing IMPROV

I thought that the IMPROV discussion and exercise was effective. I took away from the discussion that the rapid word games enable our minds to run without filters, similar to the creative processes we have studied in class such as 100 miles per hour thinking. This is great because filters such as social norms and stereotypes can prohibited great unconventional ideas from being born.

45. Christmas Card

No, I'm not joking when I tell you that this indeed was my family's Christmas card in 1998. I was four years old at the time and obviously the diva of the family.

This card was sent out to my entire extended family, as well as all my parents friends. It got mixed reviews. Most people told my mom that they loved it. They loved how relatable, and therefore, hilarious it was. However, there were a few people who were just confused as to why my mom sent this particular picture out on our Christmas card, when I wasn't even looking at the camera.

My mom obviously thought it was hysterical and proceeded to get it framed. Now it proudly hangs in the dining room on the main floor of my house for everyone to see.

44. Imagined Instagrams

I like you a latte. (picture of me and a friend candidly laughing or hugging)

43. Senior Speculation

Senior Year Bucket List:

1. Living in Pi Phi
2. Austin City Limits
3. Mardi Gras
4. Spring break trip with my best girlfriends
5. Roundup
6. Graduating
7. Have a job lined up that I love
8. TBD

42. Quintessential Quotes

These quotes either lift me up by their humor, their unique way of looking at life, or their relevance to my life.

I'm not weird. I'm limited edition.

You can't make everybody happy. You aren't a jar of Nutella.

I want to be wild, beautiful, and free just like the sea.

Collect moments, not things.

If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough.

I will make better mistakes tomorrow.

If we were meant to stay in one place, we would have roots instead of feet.

Oh, you twerk? Bitch, I Vogue.

I am not a shopaholic. I am helping the economy.

Life is too short to wear boring clothes.

Happy girls are the prettiest.

A flower does no think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.

Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.

41. Apartment Adornment

Other than the ordinary necessities like a bed, dresser, desk, etc., I want to buy some stylish home decorations for my new, empty apartment. I will be sharing my apartment with two other girls but I have my own room and bathroom. Therefore, I'm planning on decorating my room and bathroom just to my specific liking, trendy, creative, and colorful, and I intend to go all out.

I was thinking of a cute but functional way to display and organize my jewelry. Then I saw this picture on Pinterest. I liked the idea of having empty bottles to put my bracelets on.
I also like this miniature Eiffel Tower that I can put my rings on, and this cute vase to put my statement necklaces on.

The one thing I really need in my room is a vase full of light pink peonies. Peonies are my favorite flowers and I just love the idea of having flowers in my room to lighten the mood and brighten my day.

I want to buy several fashion books to use as decoration around my room. I would use them as an elevate surface, like in this picture, and just propped up for decoration. I would love the books Vogue: The Covers,
Kate Spade: Places to Go, people to See, Yves Saint Laurent Style, Paris Versus New York, Chanel: Collections and Creations, and Postcards from Vogue, just to name a few.

I really like the idea of displaying my perfume/makeup/any bathroom necessity on a three tier platter. It is a more feminine, sophisticated, and easy-access way to get ready in my bathroom.

I hope that I can successfully craft this Chanel perfume vase. I would print the label out as a sticker and then buy a vase similar to the one pictured here and put the sticker on it.

I would really like a white Buddha head to put in my room, maybe as a bookend or even to just prop my statement necklaces on. However, I'm not a Buddhist, but I do feel like the Buddha would bring a tranquility into my room, which I need from time to time. I also feel like the Buddha has become a home decor trend.

40. Newfound Night

In my photography class, I had to take pictures in night light over Spring break. Night light is when the sky in dark and fake light will most likely be the subject of the pictures. I took these picture in my neighborhood in Newport Beach, California.

39. Looming Light

In my photography class, I had to take pictures in flat light over Spring Break. Flat light is when it is overcast outside or the picture is taken in the shade with no contrasty light in the background. I took these pictures in my neighborhood in Newport Beach, California.

38. Sunny Scenes

In my photography class, we had to take pictures of contrasty light over Spring Break. Contrasty light is when it is sunny outside with blue skies and no clouds to obstruct the sun's rays. Shadows are also heavily present. I took these pictures in my neighborhood in Newport Beach, California.

37. Tenacious Thinking

The 100 mph thinking is a great unfiltered creative process. It is done out loud talking in a group setting. It is a verbal form of brainstorming but in 100 mph thinking there is no time for hesitation or filtering. You say what immediately comes to mind. This often times creates the best ideas because there is no time for our thoughts to be conformed to society's norms.

36. Contrived Connections

The creative process of forced connections makes two unrelated things come together to form something original and memorable, which is perfect for advertising! Memorability is key in advertising. An ad is worthless unless people remember it. Because they remember it, they will buy or support the product that was advertised. Some ideas may seem way to big of a stretch or way to out of the box but sometimes that is what it takes to be memorable.

For example:

35. Peeping Photographs

My photography class had us not focus on the close up image but the far away image. I went downtown and saw this GIANT eyeball and took a picture focusing on it through a fence.

I was in the parking garage on campus and looked through this window and saw a clear view of downtown Dallas' horizon. I didn't focus the up-close image because I though the circular window impacted the image.

34. Handsome Horizon

Luckily last week when it was randomly sunny and hot for about two hours amidst the snowy weather, I went to the top of a parking garage on campus and photography the horizon. In the horizon high picture, I like how the buildings in the distance are shadowed but are still apparent. In the horizon low picture I like how you can see the smog layer. It helps define the building in their blue shadow amongst the blue skies.

33. Apparent Angles

The framing and angle from which you take picture, dramatically affects the appeal to the eye. The symmetry in the frontal image is pleasing. The shadow from the sun, which enhanced by the angle, adds depth to the diagonal picture.

32. Fascinating Framing

The framing of any picture is important. In my photography class my teacher had this weeks lesson involve framing. We had to take a picture where only the edges of the frame were the focus of the picture, as well as a picture where the focus is in the center.

31. Directional Design

My photography class had us go downtown and take a picture looking up from the ground and looking down while you are on an elevated surface. I like how the blue color is vibrant and the architecture of the building and the stairs is intricate.

30. Debutante Designer

I was a debutante over Thanksgiving break of my freshman year of college. However, during my senior year of high school I took on the challenge of designing my own debutante dress. One day my mom came across the beautiful, delicate, and intricate floral lace fabric pictured here. I let that fabric inspire me in my design. I wanted to emphasized the innocence I was going to be giving away as I "entered society" at my debutante ball. I did not end up sowing the dress but I came up with the look and it could not have turned out any better.

29. Chic Commercial

My commercial for class was me designing this dress for Paris Fashion Week (my dream) accompanied by Jack Johnson's French song Belle. I was inspired to do this for my commercial because it was just Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week is going on right now. I think it would be a dream come true to have any involvement in such an iconic event, whether it be designing, styling, helping backstage, or even just attending a show. Attending Fashion Week in Paris and Milan are two of the things on my abroad bucket list.
